The idea of "Fair is foul and foul is fair" has been big focus throughout the Macbeth unit. We have discussed how good things have turned bad and how nothing is really the way it seems. One example of this is how Macbeth began as a loyal servant of Duncan. He was a very good and loved man at the time. As the book progressed what was fair tuned foul. He killed Duncan and this lead to more and more murders. As for lady macbeth, she began foul. She was a cruel and ruthless woman who cared about no one but herself. As the book progressed and the Macbeth's got themselves into more and more trouble with more and more murders she began to become more fair. She didn't become nice, but she became less ruthless and began to go insane from the things she had done. She was extremely guilty and that made her eventually go insane and kill herself.
Another example of this is Scotland as a whole. Under the rule of Duncan Scotland was a calm and peaceful place. Everything seemed to be going as it should and if something went wrong it was fixed immediately. When Duncan was killed this whole downhill spiral began. Macbeth became king which allowed him to murder anyone he wanted and the whole Scotland became foul. It was night during the day, horses were eating each other, and eagles were eating falcons. Overall, the idea of fair is foul and foul is fair has come up often in this book.

"False face must hide what the false heart doth know"
"False face must hide what the false heart doth know"
-Macbeth
To me, this quote just ties together and encompasses all the emotions of the first 3 scenes of Macbeth. In this quote Macbeth is saying that he can't show outwardly all the horrible things he knows and feels inside. When Macbeth says this he is planning ahead, not yet knowing he will kill the king and his best friend. I feel like once the deed is done Macbeth has a constant struggle to keep his cool and not show on the outside how evil he is.
This becomes harder and harder for Macbeth the farther he digs his hole. The more people he kills the more insane he goes and when he has his panic attacks he is showing his insanity to anyone who can see. At this point in the play people are beginning to become suspicious of Macbeth. Macduff has gone to find Malcom and give him his rightful place on the throne. Overall, I think this quote shows what Macbeths main goal is after he plans to become king.

Free Post: Spring Break
For most people when you say "spring break" they think beach or vacation or fun, but for me I thought drivers ed. When I was driven up to the driving school on the first day I though, well it cant be that bad. I was wrong. It was literally so awful and I couldn't be happier that I am done. Everyday, 8-4, I sat in the same room listening to the exact same person teach and reading from the exact same textbook. It just got old. It got old really quick. When thursday came and I passed the test and finished the class I was so happy. I know everyone has to take it but gosh I am praying for everyone who's not done yet.
For the rest of my spring break I wanted to go out and have fun to make up for the fun I could've had but didn't. On Friday I went to the movies. Twice. I saw heaven is for real and Divergent for the second time. I really loved both of those movies. After that I went and ate some sushi with my mom and a friend. I came home and watched new girl on netflix for 3 hours and then went to sleep. The next day my mom and I went to St. Francisville just to hang out. We went to eat at Magnolia Cafe and went into some little antique shops. After that we went to walk around a plantation which was fun. That night I went to the PBS Fair and Perkins Rowe with a friend which was super fun. I think all that fun may have made up for how awful drivers ed was and now that its over I'm done forever.

Fate
"Some things are destined or fated to happen."I agree with this. I believe that everything happens for a reason whether its being in the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time. I believe you are at that "place" for a reason. In Macbeth, the witches tell him that he will be king. He doesn't know whether or not to believe them and to work for it or to just sit back and let it happen. I believe that if its fated to happen it will and if not he won't ever be king. "Women are more compassionate and less violent than men"I disagree with this. I believe that its whats in your mind, not your gender, than changed the way you act. Men are expected to show less compassion than women, but there are plenty of women who are just as violent as men. We see this in the way that Lady Macbeth acts. She is an extremely violent woman. She calls upon evil to "unsex her" or make her unfeminine so she can do what she "needs" to do to make Macbeth king. This is showing that she may think she can't be violent as a woman but she still does it regardless.

New York
The people
the light in their eyes almost as bright
as the lights on the streets
the buildings
the signs
the cars
reflecting
blinding
they all looked like children who have
just seen their first glimpse of the world
or maybe adults who have just met the
love of their life.
But they didn't know that yet
She has a purple dress
black tights
nude heels
He has a suit
with a tie
or maybe he doesn't
and maybe she does.
They say its where dreams are made or maybe
where they come true.
To me its where everyone is everyone and where
you are you.
I used enjambment, assonance of ō, and end stopped lines.

Sweet Disposition
The song
I am analyzing is Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap. This song is very
repetitive in many different ways. There is anaphora in two different sections
of the song, the first being when the song says
"A moment of love
A dream
A laugh
A kiss
A cry
Our
rights
Our
wrongs"
A is
repeated at the beginning of each of these lines creating anaphora of the
word/letter A. Anaphora is also used in the many sections of the song when it
says "won't stop till its over/we surrender (x4)." The anaphora in
this song creates emphasis on certain parts of the song. There is also
assonance of ō in the song. For example, "Sweet disposition
Never too
soon
Oh, reckless abandon
Like no one's
watching you."
The repetitions of these vowel
sounds creates a more low sound in the song and helps the song flow better
together.

Research Paper Draft
I have been working really hard for the last week on my research paper draft. Putting everything together wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but the introduction and conclusion are causing me problems. I've never been really good at introductions or conclusions and with this paper it's especially hard. I think I have a solid intro, but my conclusion is ROUGH. I am hoping I will meraculously come up with a killer conclusion but I'm pretty sure that won't happen. I'm also not super confident in my transitions, but Ive worked on them and they are getting better.
As for the body of my paper, I am having some trouble with analyzing my quotes because some seem unanalyzable, even though I know they aren't. I am really glad, though, that my paper even without a conclusion meets the length requirement which was something I was initially worried about! Overall, my paper is better than I had imagined. It could still use some work, but thats what rough drafts are for!

Snow day free post
This week was great. We only had school for 2 days total which was great and it snowed! I really love snow. I totally prefer cold weather to hot. It didn't snow a ton at my house, it mainly sleeted, but it was so pretty! I stayed inside most of the time because it was freezing, but I went out a few times to take pictures or play with my brothers. I also had a ton of school work to do which was horrible, but I got over it. I had a really good week overall, and it was really nice to not have school, and not be sick!

Snow Week Reading and Working Times
Reading: Absolutely True Diary- 20 minutes
The Book Thief- 45 mins
I read this in my room on my bed on Monday night after school.
I read the book thief at different times when I was bored, sometimes in my room, sometimes in the car.
Working times:
On Tuesday I worked on my research paper for an hour. I worked on my couch in the den at my house. I started by watching the videos on the website to explain the drafting process. After I finished those videos I did a little more research and I ended up finding one more source. Once I had finished the bibliography and notecard for that I began my draft. That day I finished about half a page of my paper.
On Wednesday I also worked for an hour. This time I worked in my room. I just worked on my draft this entire time. This time it took a little longer to get started up because I was having trouble thinking of transitions. I got about a half page done on Wednesday.
On Thursday I worked for an hour and 45 minutes. I worked in my room on my bed. I worked more on the body of my draft. I got about 2 pages done this time, and I'm now done with my body!
Total time: 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Research
I chose Human Trafficking for my topic for National History Day. I chose this because it was something I've been a part of for a while. Ive done a bit of service work for trafficking for a while so I decided to choose it for my project. My thesis is Human Trafficking is a serious problem that violates many rights,
and a specific woman named Shamere McKenzie, who was once a victim of Human
Trafficking, uses her experiences to educate others of the dangers and signs of
trafficking.
Human trafficking is the buying and selling of people as objects. I have learned a lot about rights in my research so far and a lot about Shamere Mckenzie who is the woman I'm talking about in my paper. Ive learned a lot about her story and what she does now to help out with Shared Hope International.
For my National History Day Project I have chosen to research Human Trafficking. I have chosen to research this because of passion and past experience with this topic. My thesis for this project is Human Trafficking is a serious problem that violates many rights, and a specific woman named Shamere McKenzie, who was once a victim of Human Trafficking, uses her experiences to educate others of the dangers and signs of trafficking. To support that thesis, I have researched all the different parts of my thesis. I started with rights. I have research rights that are broken and what rights the people have after they are rescued. I have also researched Shamere Mckenzie's background/story and what she is doing now.

evil
I believe that evil is a mindset. I think that it is chosen by the person whether or not to be evil and it is chosen by the person how evil to be. I think that being evil is closely tied to being selfish, in a way. Doing something to someone else that benefits you but hurts them is evil. Examples are murder (obvious), any kind of physical pain, blackmail, rumors or gossip, and many other things. I don't think that evil is just put on earth to ruin lives. I feel like a person has to choose to be evil or not. Evil can also have to do with savagery and stuff like that. When you are taken away from the people that are holding back your evil it finally shows itself.

Research: Human Trafficking
My topic for the National History Day Project is Human Trafficking. This is a huge problem now and has been for a long time. Human Trafficking is the buying and selling of humans as things. This is the second biggest money making industry in the world right behind drug trafficking. For my project I am focussing on sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is the most awkward of the 4 types of trafficking which is why I am focusing on it. People never want to talk about it but it needs to be talked about in order to stop it. You probably feel awkward reading this but thats exactly the problem, it needs to be known. Im talking about a few different things in my project. Im talking about laws having to do with human trafficking, what rights are being broken, a specific survivor, and what SHOULD and IS being done to stop trafficking.
As for this week, I need to research a little more history on trafficking, fix a few annotated bibliographies, and get my ideas together. I also need to try to start my draft, im not so sure that will happen though.
