Snow Week Reading and Working Times

Reading: Absolutely True Diary- 20 minutes
The Book Thief- 45 mins
I read this in my room on my bed on Monday night after school.
I read the book thief at different times when I was bored, sometimes in my room, sometimes in the car.
Working times:
On Tuesday I worked on my research paper for an hour. I worked on my couch in the den at my house. I started by watching the videos on the website to explain the drafting process. After I finished those videos I did a little more research and I ended up finding one more source. Once I had finished the bibliography and notecard for that I began my draft. That day I finished about half a page of my paper.
On Wednesday I also worked for an hour. This time I worked in my room. I just worked on my draft this entire time. This time it took a little longer to get started up because I was having trouble thinking of transitions. I got about a half page done on Wednesday.
On Thursday I worked for an hour and 45 minutes. I worked in my room on my bed. I worked more on the body of my draft. I got about 2 pages done this time, and I'm now done with my body!

Total time: 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Research

I chose Human Trafficking for my topic for National History Day. I chose this because it was something I've been a part of for a while. Ive done a bit of service work for trafficking for a while so I decided to choose it for my project. My thesis is Human Trafficking is a serious problem that violates many rights, and a specific woman named Shamere McKenzie, who was once a victim of Human Trafficking, uses her experiences to educate others of the dangers and signs of trafficking.
Human trafficking is the buying and selling of people as objects. I have learned a lot about rights in my research so far and a lot about Shamere Mckenzie who is the woman I'm talking about in my paper. Ive learned a lot about her story and what she does now to help out with Shared Hope International.

For my National History Day Project I have chosen to research Human Trafficking. I have chosen to research this because of passion and past experience with this topic. My thesis for this project is Human Trafficking is a serious problem that violates many rights, and a specific woman named Shamere McKenzie, who was once a victim of Human Trafficking, uses her experiences to educate others of the dangers and signs of trafficking. To support that thesis, I have researched all the different parts of my thesis. I started with rights. I have research rights that are broken and what rights the people have after they are rescued. I have also researched Shamere Mckenzie's background/story and what she is doing now.

evil

I believe that evil is a mindset. I think that it is chosen by the person whether or not to be evil and it is chosen by the person how evil to be. I think that being evil is closely tied to being selfish, in a way. Doing something to someone else that benefits you but hurts them is evil. Examples are murder (obvious),  any kind of physical pain, blackmail, rumors or gossip, and many other things. I don't think that evil is just put on earth to ruin lives. I feel like a person has to choose to be evil or not. Evil can also have to do with savagery and stuff like that. When you are taken away from the people that are holding back your evil it finally shows itself.

Research: Human Trafficking

My topic for the National History Day Project is Human Trafficking. This is a huge problem now and has been for a long time. Human Trafficking is the buying and selling of humans as things.  This is the second biggest money making industry in the world right behind drug trafficking. For my project I am focussing on sex trafficking.  Sex trafficking is the most awkward of the 4 types of trafficking which is why I am focusing on it. People never want to talk about it but it needs to be talked about in order to stop it. You probably feel awkward reading this but thats exactly the problem, it needs to be known. Im talking about a few different things in my project. Im talking about laws having to do with human trafficking, what rights are being broken, a specific survivor, and what SHOULD and IS being done to stop trafficking.

As for this week, I need to research a little more history on trafficking, fix a few annotated bibliographies, and get my ideas together.  I also need to try to start my draft, im not so sure that will happen though.
