Sweet Disposition

The song I am analyzing is Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap. This song is very repetitive in many different ways. There is anaphora in two different sections of the song, the first being when the song says

"A moment of love
A dream
A laugh
A kiss
A cry
Our rights
Our wrongs"
A is repeated at the beginning of each of these lines creating anaphora of the word/letter A. Anaphora is also used in the many sections of the song when it says "won't stop till its over/we surrender (x4)." The anaphora in this song creates emphasis on certain parts of the song. There is also assonance of ō in the song. For example, "Sweet disposition
Never too soon
Oh, reckless abandon
Like no one's watching you."

The repetitions of these vowel sounds creates a more low sound in the song and helps the song flow better together.

Research Paper Draft

I have been working really hard for the last week on my research paper draft. Putting everything together wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but the introduction and conclusion are causing me problems. I've never been really good at introductions or conclusions and with this paper it's especially hard. I think I have a solid intro, but my conclusion is ROUGH. I am hoping I will meraculously come up with a killer conclusion but I'm pretty sure that won't happen. I'm also not super confident in my transitions, but Ive worked on them and they are getting better.

As for the body of my paper, I am having some trouble with analyzing my quotes because some seem unanalyzable, even though I know they aren't. I am really glad, though, that my paper even without a conclusion meets the length requirement which was something I was initially worried about! Overall, my paper is better than I had imagined. It could still use some work, but thats what rough drafts are for!

Snow day free post

This week was great. We only had school for 2 days total which was great and it snowed! I really love snow. I totally prefer cold weather to hot. It didn't snow a ton at my house, it mainly sleeted, but it was so pretty! I stayed inside most of the time because it was freezing, but I went out a few times to take pictures or play with my brothers. I also had a ton of school work to do which was horrible, but I got over it. I had a really good week overall, and it was really nice to not have school, and not be sick!

Snow Week Reading and Working Times

Reading: Absolutely True Diary- 20 minutes
The Book Thief- 45 mins
I read this in my room on my bed on Monday night after school.
I read the book thief at different times when I was bored, sometimes in my room, sometimes in the car.
Working times:
On Tuesday I worked on my research paper for an hour. I worked on my couch in the den at my house. I started by watching the videos on the website to explain the drafting process. After I finished those videos I did a little more research and I ended up finding one more source. Once I had finished the bibliography and notecard for that I began my draft. That day I finished about half a page of my paper.
On Wednesday I also worked for an hour. This time I worked in my room. I just worked on my draft this entire time. This time it took a little longer to get started up because I was having trouble thinking of transitions. I got about a half page done on Wednesday.
On Thursday I worked for an hour and 45 minutes. I worked in my room on my bed. I worked more on the body of my draft. I got about 2 pages done this time, and I'm now done with my body!

Total time: 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Research

I chose Human Trafficking for my topic for National History Day. I chose this because it was something I've been a part of for a while. Ive done a bit of service work for trafficking for a while so I decided to choose it for my project. My thesis is Human Trafficking is a serious problem that violates many rights, and a specific woman named Shamere McKenzie, who was once a victim of Human Trafficking, uses her experiences to educate others of the dangers and signs of trafficking.
Human trafficking is the buying and selling of people as objects. I have learned a lot about rights in my research so far and a lot about Shamere Mckenzie who is the woman I'm talking about in my paper. Ive learned a lot about her story and what she does now to help out with Shared Hope International.

For my National History Day Project I have chosen to research Human Trafficking. I have chosen to research this because of passion and past experience with this topic. My thesis for this project is Human Trafficking is a serious problem that violates many rights, and a specific woman named Shamere McKenzie, who was once a victim of Human Trafficking, uses her experiences to educate others of the dangers and signs of trafficking. To support that thesis, I have researched all the different parts of my thesis. I started with rights. I have research rights that are broken and what rights the people have after they are rescued. I have also researched Shamere Mckenzie's background/story and what she is doing now.
